Why do so many who answer on religion and spirituality claim to be athiest?

Because the truth is that there are no gods or spirits or any such supernatural nonsense. Unfortunately, lots of people don't get it.

i'm not curious. i already grew up in church. it's just fun to see how people tick and it's much more interactive than the other categories.

so many answer who claim to be atheist because so many are atheist. I would have thought that would be fairly self-evident, dude.

No we have been Christian at one point ( majority)
To use a Christian term, We saw the light
So we know the answers, We actually read the Bible

And as you state we are answering questions not asking them

Because religion has a big effect on my life. When Christians (all sects) stop pushing their philosophy into the public spehere by working to pass legislation that affects my freedom, I get very angry,

1. YA is a site where people are encouraged to share knowledge. A person doesn't have to be religious or faithful to be knowledgeable about these topics.

2. It's spelled "atheist".

3. It's spelled "seriously".

4. In context, it's spelled "you're". As in: Obviously, you're clueless.

Because they are. It seems pretty narrow minded to insist that atheists can't discuss a topic as interesting as religion simply because they don't believe in god.
