Why do some religious groups push their religion on people?

I'm sorry you feel that way. We're trying to bring the world to a knowledge of Jesus Christ. We want families to be together forever and everyone to find peace and happiness in life. We don't bible bash or fight when we come to your home, we teach the way Jesus taught, with love and respect.

Why is it that Mormons and Jehovah's Witness walk around and push religion on people and try to recruit them to their religion? Is this seen as the best way to gain new members? I see it as being too pushy and deters people from it rather than bringing them towards it.
its not that i have anything against these religions specifically, just the fact that they try to recruit people at their homes. I don't want to be told what to do.

why aren't all religions doing what Jesus and his disciples did....preaching and teaching.......Jesus taught them and sent them out by two's
His commandment
Matthew 24:14 KJV, And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Matthew 28:19,20 KJV, Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

it's similar as seeing someone drawling and you try hard to save him from falling into hell fire. i am Muslim, i don't like to push my religion on people, but because Allah/God has enlighten me about things that will happen in the after life, i feel sympathy for people that they should catch the guidance before it's too late.

I am christian and I agree about pushing it on people. I don't do that nor do I like when christians, mormons and jehovah's do that. I am a very friendly person. I talk to people and some way I bring up christianity. If it's something you don't wanna talk about then we won't talk about it and we will talk about something else. If you wanna talk about it we can talk about it. It's that simple. But I would rather make friends with someone first rather then going house to house and bothering people.

Some religions do this because they arrogantly and erroneously believe they are the ONE AND ONLY WAY TO GOD. Which isnt true, of course. Even Jesus said "In my Father's House there are many mansions".
