Why do SUVs keep killing people but the Corvair was "unsafe at any speed"?

Ralph Nader killed the Corvair, why aren't lawyers killing the 'evil' SUV?
Yes of course the Corvair was perfectly safe.

Unless there is a mechanical defect all vehicles are safe, what causes accidents are people, weather and the unpredictable.

A high school friend had a Corvair, dashboard shifter, leaking oil, everything.
That & the Karmann Ghia will be missed.
SUV's increase insurance rates. While their survivability increases, the victims of their collisions diminish at an even greater rate.
Where's the "savings"? (for the ones who can neither afford them, or to operate them)

The Government needs them for "Fleet" vehicles, so they can plow right through the serfs in their Volts.

My little Ford SUV has one of the industries highest crash ratings.
The Corvair had the same inherent problems as all rear engine vehicles.
Porsche solved the problems but at the time Detroit didn't know how to make safe vehicles of any kind or any speed.
The 65-66 180 hp turbo Corsa with new suspension and steering was safe and fast but Nader had already killed the car.
Damned shame.

They haven't made a decent vehicle since 1979! What used to be steel is now plastic, I mean what the hell good does a PLASTIC bumper do ya! EVERYTHING is 'unsafe' according to the Commies!
