Why don't 99% of women have a good sense of humour?

1. There are a minuscule amount of female comedians in comparison to men.
2. I can't stand listening to a girl try and make jokes it is frankly depressing.
3. Don't give me that "you don't get our cleverness" excuse I am in Mensa.
Ugh I knew people would criticize the Mensa allusion. I want answers not snarky misdirections. It was only to counter another one of the more common defences women bring up and that was to avoid being mean (I have a depressing research paper about you ladies which I won't share).
Alright so a lot of angry comments from women and as for the ones who know how to control their temper, good job.

1. You don't know me well enough to assess any aspect of my personality including humour.
2. Saying Mensa members are all "void" of humour is a generalization which you have not backed up. Also statistically speaking you can not tell me you gained that opinion from personal experience because Mensa only accepts the top 2% of the population.
3. Regarding the point about empathy and not understanding female humour. I have read a few books about the ancient Greek's ways of rhetoric figures, took a neuroscience course, read a couple books on classic humour and I have a deeper understanding of the brain contribution, history, cultural impact and presentation of humour and jokes.

Women do seem to lack a sense of humor. They also don't know how to take a compliment. They will not give a straight answer. These are facts. If we want sex, we are going to have to work around them.

Mensa. I took most of the tests. I have a talent for test taking. I decided before I completed them that these people were elitists. Setting yourself above another because of a physical attribute (intelligence) is analogous to big breasted women not associating with the rest of society. I don't care for elitists, cliques, or those that claim to be "superior" I did not want to be a part of this.

Your observation about women lacks verification of the percentage, and is incomplete.

Because a sense of humor is something that many, many, many, many, many women want in men. So as a result, men will work on their sense of humor to attract females.

I made myself laugh not two minutes ago.

As for "you don't get our cleverness," maybe you just don't have empathy. In other words, maybe YOU don't have a sense of humor. You really aren't telling us that women aren't funny, you're saying that you don't understand female humor.

By the by, using comedians as an example isn't a good tactic. Most stand up comedians are just jack asses that steal jokes and rely on toilet humor, racism, sexism, and heterosexism for cheap laughs.

If you want to hear a funny comedian, look up Maria Bamford.

I'm not usually one for ad hominems, but seriously, Mensa is lame. In my experience it's mostly people who haven't accomplished much, but still want to signal their supposed intelligence to others.

Anyways, to answer your question I think it is because as a social behavior humor is rewarded more for men than women.
