Because each new model of the Prius has shown improvements in the technology used and the environmental friendliness of the vehicle. Newer versions of the Prius will likely provide increasing mileage and more eco-friendly components (such as a new lithium ion battery pack).

This is junk science! Diesels have been around FOREVER, are efficient and reliable! They just aren't that sexy to the hipsters that think they know something about the automobile.
But that will not stop, the creation of "Green Industries" to make the batteries and dispose of them. Gee, I wonder which party these industries lobby and support?
Remember, these are the same people who favor Mercury filled light bulbs. Eco-friendly my A$$!
