Why has NBA basketball become so terrible?

Just check the ratings....

There's a reason why its the 5th most popular sports venue behind NFL, MLB, NCAA Football and NCAA Basketball compared to in the 90's when NBA was the most popular sports venue.

I started watching basketball in the early 80's and was a big NBA fan up until a few years ago probably sometime around the mid 2000's. It's just become un watchable.

1. inconsistent touch and ticky-tac foul calls. Today's game and the players are soft. I can't stand the flopping and the game isn't physical like it used to be. You can't even touch a guy in today's game without it being a flagrant foul call.

2. There are 100 foul calls a game. (See above)

3. The game stops every 10 seconds for a foul call.

4. The refs have confirmed to fixing playoff games and giving star players special treatment.

5. The regular season is now pretty meaningless. The NBA has becomr much too predictable We all know either the Lakers or the Heat is going to win next year. It's gonna be the same teams in the playoffs again and the bad teams are gonna be even worse and more irrelevant.

6. The NBA is pretty much a 82 game preseason. The playoffs are sometimes enjoyable but people love the NFL because almost every game during the season is do or die.

7. The aren't any rivalry's in the NBA anymore.

FIFA is the most popular sports venue in the world. So if your stats are right (Which I doubt), Basketball would be 6th. I think Basketball is one of the most exciting sports in the world. I love the NBA too, but like you said, all those foul calls are some what affecting the game. The big difference is that there are much more games unlike other sports. Making it harder for people to tune in. Lets be honest, even if your a hardcore NBA fan, your not gonna watch all 82 games. I guarantee if it we're a 20 game season, a 3 game playoff series, with a week or at least 3 to 4 days in between it would be watched MUCH more. As far as it being the 5th, (Or 6th if you'd like) I doubt its true. Kobe Bryant is the 2nd most beloved athlete in the United States right behind Tiger Woods. The NBA was lacking at least 5 to 8 competitive teams like any other sport has, but that has recently changed. As you can see a new Heat roster has been formed. I don't want to sound cocky, but I bet ratings are gonna sky rocket next season. Along with the typical dominance of the Orlando Magic, Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns, Denver Nuggets and of course your Champions the Los Angeles Lakers, there are new teams and stars on the rise such as: The Miami Heat, Kevin Durant and his Oklahoma Thunder, you could also include the Chicago Bulls here. If that if you stated is true, its going to change the next couple of seasons.

I agree with most of your points about the NBA. Unfortunately, NBA and most sports these days have tons of players that just play for the money. Don't pay them well and they will not perform well.... it's a sad world.
