Why is my Ipod shuffle is not showing up on iTunes and how can I fix it?

I disconnected my shuffle when the do not disconnect light was on and it still plays music but it won't show up on iTunes. I've tried different usb ports and it still will not show up. How do fix or reset it? (I don't care if the music on it now is erased)
