Why is my Windows Media Player playing dvds slower after I put in a mini dvd-r?

I have been able to play dvds on my pc. Then I popped in a mini dvd-r for the first time, and now the Windows Media Player will not play regular dvds at the right speed. It's like a second slower and the audio is crackly. How can I re-adjust it?
