don't acknowledge their presence? Recently I heard a show on the radio. They were talking about saying hi to people.
Some listeners complained that nobody greets them or say hi to them in the street or in their jobs and even on a elevator, and unknown people.

My question is why people care so much if others greet them or say hi to them?

I don't care if people on the street, in queues, at my job, neighbours, in and elevator, or people I don't even know say hi to me or not.

Do you care or not?

It really depends on the situation. If im at work it seems like the polite thing to do as you are walking by each other. in public on the other hand, if you don'tt know someone in the first place, well im usually not all that upset if they don't say good day or hi to me.

Traditionally, going back as far as time itself, to snub someone upon meeting them means that you have a problem with that person. It is often perceived as just making that person invisible, a non-person, not worthy of my time or effort.

IT IS A SUPREME INSULT, if you do it, you lack social class and many might consider you a complete boor. If you don't care, then that analysis is confirmed.
