Will a CD Sims 2 expansion pack work with the DVD base game?

I realized that the DVD version of the expansion packs were far more expensive than the DVD versions and of course, I would like to buy the cheaper one. However, the base game(the original) is a DVD. Will the CD expansion pack work with the DVD base game?
