Will I be able to use my fathers upgrade for verizon wireless?

My father's upgrade for his phone is now up and he told me that I could use it to get a Droid Incredible. He is the primary user of my family's account, we pay 10 dollars a month for internet usage on regular multimedia phones. If I were to switch to a smartphone like the droid incredible, i would have to pay 30 dollars a month for a new multimedia plan. But the problem is that since I would be taking my fathers upgrade, my whole family (some dont have android or other smartphones) would have to switch from paying 10 dollars a month for internet to paying 30 dollars a month. My phone upgrade is in December, should I wait for the upgrade or is there a way around so that I could use my fathers upgrade without having to lose the plan for the rest of my family?
Well my parents and I at the moment pay 10 dollars a month for a data plan, all of us use internet on our phone. My sister has a droid 2 and she pays the 30 dollars a month for data. Im just trying to find out if I can switch upgrades with my father without having to change data plans

Verizon only puts the Data plan on the phone that requires it. The phones that dont require them are flip phones or non internet browsing phone. If the rest of your family does not have the Data plan, even when getting your Incredible, they wouldn't have to pay because they don't have the Incredible.

Well I have AT&T so I'm not sure if it's the same with Verizon but I think you can seperate the charges on the diffrent lines. For example, my mom pays $20 for MY phone line to have unlimited text messaging and no one elses. So maybe you could just ask them if there's a way for the charge to only go to one line.
