So, while I was on Google Chrome, something popped up saying that it got corrupted. I wasn't sure what to do, so I closed GC, and did a shutdown from the start menu, since I was going to sleep anyways. I turned my computer back on today, and a message said I needed my C drive checked for consistency, and I figured I shouldn't skip it. However, it says something like this: (file system is NFTS)

CHKDSK is verifying files (stage 1 of 3)
5 percent complete

And it's been stuck on this for about almost two hours, and I don't want to touch it. Should I just wait for it to finish? Or is something seriously wrong? If there IS something terribly wrong, is there still a way to back-up my files?
