I have a friend's DVD player that was working (while running off battery) for a while but now won't turn on. It won't accept a charge and the "AC" power light won't come on. It's a Sony DVP-FX94.

I have a universal charger that has an adjustable voltage switch. The v of the DVD player is 9.5 while the adapter uses 9.0 and 12.0 Neither have worked. Wondering if that .5 voltage difference would make it not work, or if it's more than likely a problem with the power supply- I've never seen it take a charge and not sure what happened to the original charger.

Any ideas? Thanks!
Thanks DMB that's exactly it! The player is positive and the charger tip is negative.

I'm quite sure it would work from 9 volts. Is the polarity of the power supply correct? i.e. positive to centre pin or negative to centre pin.
