He's mad because he believes I'm preparing for the worst out of fear. He sees the glass half full always.
 
No, that's like being mad if your husband wants to learn how to play guitar.
 
Nope. It's good discipline, excellent physical fitness, stress relief, and practical self-defense. I prefer (and study) Kung Fu, but all martial arts are worthwhile.

Any man that opposes somebody learning self defense is foolish.
Besides, there is more to martial arts than fighting. There's discipline, concentration, awareness, learning ones limits..
 
Noooooooh ..... but the husband in question might be well advised to be more circumspect in future conversations.
 
I don't see why any husband would have a problem with their wife improving themselves unless they are insecure bastards who can't handle the fact that she might learn to kick his @ss if she needed to. Or that she may be attracted to some hot karate instructor.
