XBOX 360 E74 error!! Please Help?!?

So, I bought an XBOX 360 from someone on craigslist. I got it for christmas and it's been working great. I was playing a game just yesterday and noticed that the screen was kinda getting lines all over it. I turned it off and turned it on a few hours later and it gave me the evil E74 error with one little red light in the bottom right hand corner. Now I hear it has something to do with the av cable, scaler chip, or GPU. I unplugged my av cable and turned it on and it was working fine, does that mean that I just need a new av cable or could it still be the scaler chip or GPU? My warranty's already up so I figured if it's not the av cable it'd be cheaper to fix it myself. Any help would be much obliged!

Error E74 means it is about to get the red ring of death so pay billy gates more money for a new one so the sales increase as planned.
