You MUST get rid of some of the weight. There is you, a child and a dog. One goes or the boat sinks. Who goes???
PETA and animal rights activists hate this question but the fact remains that HUMANS are more important!!!
 
I would let it sink. The dog can swim and the child can hold onto my back if the child can't swim. Besides, how far are you from the coast? Another boat on a route might pass by.
 
um the dog is the heaviest plus ya didnt say it was a puppy

The other options are to toss the dog overboard, meaning that i would have to starve or eat the child.

I could jump overboard, but then the dog would eventually eat the child or they would both starve.
 
I know this answer is looking a Little dumb but I think it's correct.

take it in turns to go out, like on a rota, whilst still maintaining a close if not hold onto the boat/life raft. that way no one needs to be thrown. btw if i absolutely needed to throw one out it would be the dog
