8 months post pregnancy, sprints vs long distance?

I gave birth 8 months ago and now am trying to get back in shape. Weight wise I'm at my pre pregnancy weight but really just need to tone my thighs and abs. I'm just wondering if I should be spending more time on sprints or long distance to get back in shape by the summer. If anyone has any other good ideas please let me know.
