They let living people die by blocking stem cell research, bombing abortion clinics, blocking women with deadly ectopic pregnancies from getting abortions, and insisting that brain-dead people stay on life support, which saps money from people who have hope of recovering.

...abortionists themselves? Organized religion is such a negative influence on societal and technological progress. Think of all the billions of lives that have been wasted believing in nonsense myths left over from the Bronze Age instead of contributing to human advancement. Do you think that if it wasn’t for the smothering influence of organized religion, we could very well have the medical technology to make abortion completely unnecessary?

The abortion issue is a 'human life' issue. All the scientific evidence demonstrates clearly that the unborn human fetus is 100% human. Pro aborts just like to wax eloquent about personality and complex philosophical questions. Science is on the pro-life side, it is just rarely considered.
I wonder how well you argument would have floated if it were used to insult anti-slavery folks in the 19th century. Plug your argument into that era and see the error.
Murder is always unnecessary and absolutely evil.

"if it wasn’t for the smothering influence of organized religion" ...
We'd already have colonised the stars.

You continue to be spoon-fed lies from the world and your friends. Think beyond yourself and your peers. Christianity is the only true religion, the rest are man-made and violent, because they are all of the world. Religion is a tactic of the devil and in the name of world religion Christ was killed on the cross. Think beyond the world of lies to the truth of Christ, who came to us because it would be impossible for us to come to Him, as He is infinitely holy and we are unholy sinners.

I am not aware of any religion blocking the study of birth control pills.

haha i'm against religion 100% but this has got to be one of the stupidest theories i've ever heard!

I guess when you look at it in your twisted kind of way , Yeah I guess. But from my perspective, No . God bless.

Well, we actually do have the technology to make abortion unnecessary, it's just a matter of whether people choose to use it or not. There are many forms of birth control, and while none are 100% effective, if such methods were faithfully used, then practically all abortions could be eliminated. So it's just a matter of making birth control available and affordable or free. So to be more humane, yes, the pro-life people could focus more energy on making people's lives better (in all places on earth, including third world countries) by helping people get access to family planning. Unfortunately, many people who are against abortions are also against birth control. Maybe someday they will wake up and realize that choosing to bring a child into this world who will face nothing but hardship and poverty and misery is far more immoral than choosing to not create that child in the first place. Also, if their answer is "well then they should just stop having sex" then they need to get a dose of reality. Humans are humans, flesh and blood, and we have the desire to touch and be touched, period. People are not going to stop having sex.

Yes, religion has a lot of influence on how life and death are handled in this world. However, people have the right to choose what to believe so there will probably always be differences in what people believe about birth control and abortion. We should at least be thankful that we (in "free" countries) are able to believe whatever we choose to believe without fearing terrible consequences. I personally believe very much in God and spirituality, but not in most organized religion. Therefore, I choose to believe that life and humanity will advance on this planet, and it comforts me to think that all these differences in our beliefs will not matter eventually. I think human consciousness is going to evolve and petty differences and ideological conflicts will disappear.

Sorry I went on and on, but I hope I answered your question at least a little.

Uhh, we already have the medical technology, not that we even need it.

Don't want a baby, don't make one.

Simple as that. Problem solved...abortion completely unnecessary. :)
