...doing when the camera comes out? Every time I bring out the video camera my son quits doing the cute thing that caused me to get it out. He also quits smiling every time I get the camera out to take a picture. He just stares at this new object in my hand. Maybe if I leave them out so he sees them every day and gets used to them he won't be so surprised when I try to catch a cute babbling episode on video or a big smile on camera. I have a whole video tape of him just sitting and staring and a ton of pictures of him looking confused. Anyone else have this problem or are your babies meant for Hollywood?

Oh yea my kids are the same as yours. I especially love when they grab and jump at the camera so I get a nice picture of their forehead or palm of their hand.

I'm thinking about ditching my digital camera and getting a nice "film" camera. With a digi it never fails that a kid will move before the lens has time to focus!

Yeah, my son is the same way, my husband put the strap on the camera, which I told him not to, and my son has a string fetish. So as soon as he see the string, he is climbing me for the strap.
I try and take quick photos of him before he notices the camera, I actually sneak up on him with the camera hidden behind my back.
I can't complain though, as I have tons of wonderful pictures of my son, but all I can say is, thank god for digital cameras so you can pick and choose your fav's. I can't imagine the days before digital, where you had to pay to get all your film developed, along with the bad and good pictures.

I feel your mommy pain! Our daughter does will be doing something hysterical and as soon as I try to tape it, it's over. Put the camera away and she's back at it. I don't know what her problem is. I've tried sneaking it up on her too. I'll have my husband playing with her and just kind of walk up and zoom shoot her so it's not so obvious and it still doesn't work! I don't get it. To get good pictures I put my camera on the quick shot feature, or just keep clicking it. If the flash isn't on high I can get some good shots that way. She smiles when I put the camera on her but the click and flash freak her out so this method works for us. I also take her in to JC Penny. Their cameras can be set not to flash so they play with her and make her smile and laugh and take pictures of her that come out great! I take her every month to make sure I have shots of her as she grows. Good luck with the little one!

I have tons of patience. I will hold the camera away from my face, but still facing my son to catch a candid shot. It sometimes takes me awhile because he does stop and stare at the camera when I first take it out...but after awhile he'll get used to it and go back to being a goofball. lol
Here is one shot I got the other day ...I had to take 16 other pictures before I Got this one.

Both of my kids LOVE the camera. My 4 year old is a riot. He'll sit there and pose for hours for me. My sister insists he's going to be a Calvin Klein under ware model, because he is always in his under ware. Lol.

my daughter used to do that, but we take lots of pictures of her so now she stops what shes doing and smiles and gets excited. shes 5 months old.

my son will sped crawl over to me as soon as i pull the camera out and before its veen turned on and he is allllll smiles

Never fails. My son did that to when he was a baby. He's 2 now, and if he see the camera he brings it to me and says "I wanna smile!" LOL
