Bad side effects of taking nicotine pills over a long period of time?

My boyfriend has never smoked a day in his life. He decided after being told that stop smoking aides calm you down just like smoking he decided to start taking them THOUGH HE'S NEVER SMOKED. Can this do anything to him like bad? And is it going to make him addicted to nicotine? It's like a nicotine pill that you break and put in the side of your mouth like dip for 2-3 hours
 
God this was a bad decision. Yes it will make him an addict. I smoked 6 years. The only way to successfully break the addiction is to stop and go through the 2-3 weeks of withdrawal (honestly not that hard if you just take the withdrawal pangs as it comes). Tell your boyfriend to stop now. If he can't or doesn't then it's because he's already addicted.
