Can a Sony Playstation 3 also function as a DVD player?

I am considering purchasing a Sony Playstation 3. I know it can play Blu ray discs but I was wondering if I would also be able to play my DVD's and CD's on it.

Oh i wonder if it does, Not like a blu-ray can play regular DVD's right! i mean why buy a blu-ray player that plays both Dvd's and Blu-ray. I might as well buy both!!!! and yes. It does play CD's and DVD's otherwise you wouldnt be able to play games.
