Can anyone suggest me a good DVD to AVI program?

I have some personal DVD videos, and I hope to backup them to my hard drive. So, I need a DVD to AVI program to help me convert DVD to AVI, but I do not which DVD to AVI program I should use because there are so many this kind of software, can anyone suggest me a good DVD to AVI program that will help me convert DVD to AVI with less video and audio quality loss.
By the way, I do not like the advertiser, so please sincerely recommend me a good one, thanks in advance!
 
Why AVI? That format is old and outdated. Use H.264. Handbrake is an excellent free DVD ripper that will rip those no problem.
