Can I exchange songs w/ another ipod if my computer cant be authorized?

I was given an ipod nano (2g) and the hard disk is nearly full. I want some of the songs, but not all of them b/c I have songs that I downloaded too. When I try to take the songs off the ipod, it tells me I'm not authorized.
