Can i play blu-ray cds on my ps3 when its connected to a normal non-hd tv?

one of the people who answered my last question said that if you have a blu-ray cd you must have a hd tv or your game will not work. is this true?

Yes you can it just wont be HD, I did it all the time before we got our Hd t.v
