Gold allows you to play online with people. You will have to pay for the gold service, it's 20 dollars for a 3 month scratch card or 50 for a year.. If you want to buy and download games on marketplace you will need to get microsoft points, it's about 20 dollars for 1600 points, you can get scratch cards for points at any shop that sells the consoles...
