Can the playstation 3 play DVD's?

I know it plays blu-ray discs. but, does it play regular DVD's too?

yes it reads dvds and it works great for downloaded movies to doesn't skip and stop like other dvd players so if you want to get a dvd play and ps3 buy the ps3 and it will probably read burned dvds better than the dvd player

the best thing is its 3 in one
1:dvd player/blue ray
2:its a free online messager
3:and a computer you can hook up and printer and Scanner and other awesome stuff you might want to use

Yes it does, I've probably watched more DVD's than blu-rays on my PS3.

The PS3 reads Blu-ray, DVD, and CD. The only disc type the PS3 does not read is HD-DVD.

The backward compatible PS3s also read SACDs, but those are no longer made, just like the HD-DVD.
