can you use a blue ray dvd component as the component for a ps3?

okay so I'm borrowing my bf's ps3 though he has hdmi cable i need a component cuz i still have a tube tv (lol maybe i can borrow his tv next) but he cant even remember weather or not the ps3 brong a component cable or not so my question is can detach the component of my blue ray dvd and utilize it on the ps3
 
Yes you can. You may need to reset the video output of the PS3 (just press the on button while it powers on, until you hear a beep).
