I was orginally planning to rent a car and see all the islands myself, but I was told, it takes 2 hours to get the car, and 2 hours to return it. Is there a faster way to do it? I don't wanna spend more than 15 min. If not, can your cruise line prearragnge one for you, since they know your schedule.
Third option is private driver, but they're really expensive. I'm looking for something between 40 and 100 dollars per car, for 6 hours.

no the cruise lines do not do that.

you have to arrange ahead of time on your own. for ideas, go to cruisecritic.com and in their message boards check out the port call forums on reputable rentals

No you would have to do it yourself, unless they have something similar to what you are looking for in a shore excursions. Usually when you get off the ship at your port, they have people waiting to take you places for a small fee.

When we went to Hawaii I pre-organised a rental car at every island.
Some the driver brought the car to the ship and we dropped him back at depot.
Some we had to take taxi at dock to depot, think longest was 15 mins.
At Maui we kept over-night as 2 day stop.

So much simpler/better than overpriced and poor quality ships shore excursions.

First, make sure which island you want to visit. Maybe you could contact a local travel agency and ask them fo it for you.
