Border Into The US? i'm planning a trip to Burning Man, and i was wondering if there were any Canadians here with experience crossing the border? How often do they search the vehicle? How long does it take to get through on a good day? bad day? anything that triggers a search? How do you state your intentions? (i know you're not supposed to mention Burning Man, but it will be hard to avoid when you're crossing in a RV/ Converted School Bus full of neon pink fake fur, lingerie, and other oddities. The big one for me is the laptop computer. Border guards have the right to detain, search, and confiscate any laptop, storage device, iPod, cellphone, flash drive, etc, that they want to check for anything illegal, without any need for reasonable suspicion for an indefinite amount of time. Although i don't have anything illegal on my computer, i do have some music i got off limewire. i know i'm probably being over nervous, but i don't want to overlook anything. (btw i have a 26 hour drive i'm planning to turn into a 2-3 day trip to do some photography, and use the wifi @ coffee shops, so i'd like to have my laptop with me)
