console buttons dont work on philips home theatre system?

the console buttons dont work on a philips home theate r system hgs6500/37 i actualy bought the system used from a yard sale and it powers on but the butons on the systems console wont work and the system is set in mp3 mode i tried to change it by pushing the source button but it is not working and the remote does not seem to work either unless i am not working the system right but i asummed that the console buttons would work to change the source the standby button on the console is working but that is the only thing that seems to work am i working it wrong or is it fried thank you for any help

You should have tested everything when you purchase the thing at a yard sale. You can try by calling or email the manufacturer and see what they say. If it needs repair, you might as well throw it away. The cost of labor is very expensive, you might be better off buying a new one. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on home theater in box. Hope this will help you out.
