...should I get a new one? The image on my portable DVD player is cracked in that it still plays films, but there's a large black "crack" obscuring most of the image. At the same time, the physical screen in and out itself isn't damaged (as far as I can tell). Is it worth repairing (and if so, how much would it usually cost) or should I just dump it and get a new one?

Thanks,
Phillip Frangules

What is the cost of a new one??

Estimate $10 or more for shipping, at least $50 for labor, $50 for parts. I bet buying a new one, with a year warranty, would be better than repairing an old one, unless there is something special about the old one.

this is going to sound strange but hit it on the bottom or the side slap it. and try it again, it sounds like a problem with the things behind the screen that project the image forward if that doesn't work you should probably get a new one, i dunno much about repairing tho :P
