Do you have kids in day care? How often can I expect my son to be sick, lol?

My son is starting a day care instead of home care like I have had the past few months and with it being cold and flu season I am wondering how often on average day care kiddos are sick during the cold and flu months. He will be going 2 days a week for 4 hours each day.
Oh and he just turned 2

I worked in a day care for a few months on a temp basis and I there was ill children through out the whole time I was there!

Within 3 months there were cases of impetigo, chicken pox and a measles scare, along with constant colds in all the rooms (baby, toddler and pre-school) which seemed to hop from one child to another.

I'd say expect your child to get a cold or two as it is that time of year, and it is inevitable as there are many other children in a day care, but it's nothing to be concerned about as it's a normal part of childhood, getting ill generally strengthens a child's immune system and it's gonna happen when they join school anyway!

Good luck :)

For the first year or so he will get sick more. Some get sick more then others it just depends. Day Cares are germ factories, staff get sick often as well. Especially during the first year. Good news though, he should be sick less once hes in school

I think it depends on the kid. My daughter went to daycare 2-3 days a week/5-6 hours a day since she was 6 months old. However, my daughter was OK. She was sick maybe twice last year (where she had to miss daycare) and has been sick once this year. That was better than what I was expecting!
