It has happened to me a tons of times and i have always hate it. I think greeting somebody is a voluntary act and nobody should tell you to greet somebody if you don't want to because that makes it against your will and not voluntary. Im 17 now, im old enough to choose if i want to greet somebody or not, thats my choice and nobody cant force me to do otherwise. I know is bad manners,i know people will think i have no manners but thast my problem even though i dont really care if they think that, it dosent affect me, i dont live out of other people's opinions. So do you agree or not? Tell me what you think.

I agree. My parents are pakistani, so they always tell me to say hi. Well, guess what? I always was a puppet and listened to them. I am 18 now, And I do not give a shit what anyone tells me to do. Yes, I am a respectful person, I always listen to my parents, but why should I say hi to someone who I don't know or like? Yesterday, I was at my mom's office, and my older 50 yr old cousin came. I did not even turn around to look at him, my mom whispered "say hi to him." But I didn't care. I don't even like that cousin, or many other cousins for that matter. So why on earth should I care? I mean, if someone wants to shake your hand do it... be polite, but you don't have to say hi to everyone. Do what you want, and don't care what anyone else says. Good luck.

i think your parents are just trying to teach you manners, i think you should listen to them

No I had proper training growing up and this was one of my lessons to learn.I still greet people to this day.
