Everytime I try and run battlefield 2 screen turns black & returns to desktop?

At first I thought I needed a new graphics card, so I went and picked up a GeForce 9400 GT and installed it,ect. The same thing is happening, when I try and open Battlefield2, the screen turns black for about 3 seconds, and returns back to desktop. I have tried re-installing it but nothing. I also have Battlefield 2142 which pretty much has the same requirements and it works alright. I tried changing my resolution and it still didn't work.
