films i have downloaded dvdrips and xvid , wont play on ps3?

films i have downloaded dvdrips and xvid and avi, wont play on ps3 ,i drop and drag onto usb stick and they wont play , i know pushing triangle displays them all , but when i go to play them they all say unsupported data please help , this has only recently stated to happen in the past all films i have downloaded in dvdrip and xvid played please any advice will be appericted

try updating to latest firmware via the xmb. or they may be wrong resolution. try nero recode and recode them to ps3 mp4.
