Going to Philly for school, meeting new people. Should I tell people I'm Gay?

I'm going to philly for school and I don't know if I should come out as Gay right away.. It might give people a bad first impression as not everyone is down with that. I'm sure it will come out eventually and everything will be cool but a part of me says why not.. its who you are, be proud. I don't know if I should just come out officially. or stay in the closet for the time being.

Thoughts?

Get to know the people you meet before you come out. Or if you can tell they are not homophobic right off the get-go, then go ahead and tell them. At least that is what I would do.
