Good, exciting Sci-fi books for a five year old boy?

hi, my little brother loves sci-fi movies and spider-man and all the hero stuff, so can anyone tell me a good book or series of books he might like and understand, he isn't into blood and gore that much, but loves the hero thing and plays jedi's with his friends.

My dad or myself could read them to him, but the main thing is that he understands the plot.

Well it isn't exactly sci-fi but my son loves the magic tree house series. They are accelerated reader books. My son can't put them down. When he starts one he will sit there reading until he has read the whole thing. He actually picks up a little bit of history in them to.
