I really enjoy the , so you want to be a wizard, series, harry potter, the alchemist, war of the worlds, and just about anything involving dragons if that helps.

uglies by scott westerfeld. very action packed and science fictiony. hover cars, hover boards, etc. plus its a dystopian (takes place in a bleak world)

Definitely try the Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins (final book comes out in August). Good stuff.
