I'm looking for either an alternative to a bike or a super steady bike, since I have VERY poor balance and cannot, despite several attempts over the years, learn to ride a bike without falling over.

I don't have a drivers license and with the hard times can't afford the car+ the insurance, etc. But I need to get to work and other things, and public transportation is a hassle, and only go so far.

I need specific suggestions, names, etc and why they're a good choice, for at least one of the following:

-A tricycle (electric, I suppose, is preferred) that doesn't look really, really stupid for a 21 year old female to be riding around on..

-Some sort of cool, electric vehicle that is sleek and allows me to ride it as if I were a cyclist in the eyes of law enforcement (so I don't get in trouble for taking the sidewalk like them)..

Something that can take bumps, and, if it's electric (since I'm not sure how those work), I need to be able to either have the battery last over at least 3,4,5 miles, or still function when the battery runs out.

Also, I will always be carrying a bag, since I need to bring my laptop, my uniform, etc, for my job..

I need whatever it is to be steady, as stylish as possible, and be something I can take to work with me, preferably to leave in the back room or something..

Any suggestions? I need some help, guys!!

Five stars and whatnot for the most helpful, detailed answer.

Please, no answers with just links. I've searched the web already, using all the different terms I can think of, and I keep getting sites with--lists of LINKS. Annoying!

Again, if you think that you know of a steady electric bike that I can actually stay on even with my bad balance, please, by all means, let me know what it is!!

Thank you!!
