Hey gay couples: why don't you show PDA when you're in public?

well not so much kissing but simple gestures like holding hands!

my boyfriend and I hold hands when we walk through the mall all the time..................
every time, we're the only gay couple doing it........
and every time, nothing bad happens to us. we are never harassed or bothered.

We show the same level of affection that straight couples show all the time.

We did it just today. It was fun.

Why do so many of you have this irrational fear of being harassed?
@Percy: Somewhere around 5-10% of couples are gay.
Therefore, they should make up 5-10% of couples holding hands. but that's not the case, now is it.

i dont because im just shy and im afraid of the harrassment because honestly wat gay guy didnt get harrassed at ONE time in there life and so im afraid of it happening again. i saw a gay couple at the mall two months ago and im like omg thats so cute!!! and i was hoping my mother would see (im only a teen) because it would get really awkward if she said HEY WHY DONT U DO THAT

I am really introverted, and I would just feel uncomfortable because I know people would talk. I know we shouldn't care what others say as long as we're happy, but still...

i love showing PDA!! if single people give us dirty looks its like "hey at least someone loves me" and whens its straight or homophobes its like "your happy with your partner and im happy with mine" :P

I'm bisexual and I don't like showing affection in public with a guy or girl. I always feel awkward. I'll hold hands sometimes, but that's usually all.

I don't think it's an irrational fear, because it happens a lot. I guess it depends where you live, where you are, how confident you are, etc.

My (ex) girlfriend and I would hold hands all the time, but we did get harassed a lot for it. Therefore, we thought it best not to.

I think it's awesome that you guys hold hands, and that nobody is mean to you about it. Good for you! :) But you have to keep in mind that not everybody is that confident, or lucky enough to live in/be in an area that is safe~

Me and my ex-boyfriend would never hold hands because people would give us really nasty looks or just stare and shake their heads.

It's not an irrational fear. In some areas there is real fear. I've had girlfriends who were actually beaten for that, yes, just holding hands in public. I, personally, don't have an issue with it but I've never had a negative result. I could care less how others view me, but I also know the areas where it's cool and the areas where there is a legitimate concern with regards to physical harm due to negativity.
