You have to either run an ethernet cable to your console and connect it to the port in the back, or the PS3 has a built in wi-fi detector. So if you have wireless internet in your house, you can go to your network settings on the console, and set up the wifi there.
After that you'll have to make a PSN account, unless you already have one.
