How do you stream windows media player to a home theater ?

I want to watch movies video or even just listen to music on my home theater, the trick is I have to do it wireless I have an old house and my pc is far away from my home theater it would not be cost effective to run 50 feet of Cables. Is there a transceiver you can use, it seems to me the only ones I have found run from external HD or usb drives.
