The previous responder is on the right track. Except you don't need a DVD burner, but rather a CD burner and most computers at least have one of those. Go to your Blu Ray manufacturers website and download the firmware upgrade that is current for your model. You will have to burn in as an image onto a CD. You can't just copy the downoladed file to the CD as you have to literally create a bootable Image disk that your Blu Ray player will recognize. If you copy it (drag and drop) all your doing is creating a copy of the file you already have and that will do nothing for you. By creating an image by using the CD authoring software, make sure you create or burn an image as this is the only way the file will be properly created on your CD. Make sure you also follow the installation instructions provided by your manufacturer. Once you place the CD in your player, allow it to run its course. It will let you know when it is finished. A USB nor a Flash Drive will not work for this because the machine does not boot from either of these drives so the Image file cannot be put on either form of media. Sounds like your player is an early version. you may want to invest in a new one anyway as they are getting cheaper.
