How long does my application for an original social security number stay...

...on file before I have to file again? Hi, I applied for a social security number last year and gave them my proof of identity, but they said they needed more. Shortly after I became homeless and wasn't able to go back to the office to finish the process. How long do they keep my application on file before I have to reapply?

I really appreciate every ones help, thank you.
