How much money should you have saved before purchasing your first horse?

Do they finance horses? If so, I would say 20% down is a good start.

Well if you do what i did i got a loan for $50,000 - not that you would actually spend that much but the higher the loan is and the less you spend the better it looks.

That's if your buying a horse around the 10 - 15 thousand range.
