How to set up an xbox 360 controller on black prophecy?

Hi, i have an xbox 360 wireless controller with charge and play kit. I have downloaded the software of microsoft and installed it. the game is registering that is plugged in but when i do something like move the stick or press a button nothing happen.
I have been to the settings and made sure that the buttons and sticks are assigned actions but still nothing.

Any help would be much appreciated.
forgot to mention black prophecy is a pc only game.

get a wireless controller or take it back. Or but it in a game and see what happens
