horrible. what's wrong? my tv is a panasonic 720p 60hz. i bought a ps3 and when i play a blueray the picture looks like crap, but when i play a game it looks good. what could be the problem?

BlueRay isn't 720p (1280 by 720), it's 1080p (1920 by 1080). That alone shouldn't make for a downright horrible picture, just a little worse, really. Therefore, your equipment probably isn't converting the picture to 720p properly.

Possibilities:
a) your PS3's converter is horrid by nature, nothing you can do about it except get a standalone bluray player
b) your TV's converter and your PS3's converter are messing with each other

Solutions:
Borrow a bluray player and see if that works well. If it does, blame PS3 or the conflict.
You might want to try turning off your PS3's converter or your TV's converter (set PS3 to 1080p OR set TV to 1:1 input, not both at the same time though).
Also try running the PS3 through a different input of some sort (VGA/DVI/component/SCART - whatever both the PS3 and the TV have).
