As long as your Home Theater System has optical digital input for surround sound.
 
...the sound that the movie uses? I just bought a new HD Television capable of 1080p while my Home theater has a DVD which produces a 480p output. I dont want to buy a new home theater but wonder if I can buy a blue ray player and run it through the current Theater system?
