me an even better picture?
I have a Optoma HD65 projector hooked up to a Sony DVD player with HDMI/Upscaling (DVP-NS700H) The picture quality is amazing! My friends are telling me that if I replace the dvd player with a Blue Ray player the picture quality will be even better. I know that would be true when you are talking about tv's - but is that also true when it comes to projectors? Thanks!

If you buy a blu-ray disc player you are not going to see that much difference, due to your projector is only a 720P. To take full advantage of the blu-ray disc movies you should upgrade your projector to a 1080P. I have a Panasonic 720P and 1080P projector with a 116" screen, with a Pioneer Elite Blu-ray disc player and Pioneer Elite DVD player. The 1080P is much sharper in picture than the 720P. My 720P does not get much use anymore. The bigger the screen the more you will notice the difference between 720P and 1080P. Hope this will help you out.

Yes, you will definitely see the difference between DVD resolution (720x480, 0.35 megapixel) and your HD65's native resolution (1280x720, 0.92 megapixel). Almost 600,000 more pixels of actual resolution.

Upscaling can't create detail that isn't there. Only Blu-ray discs will use the full capability of your projector. And the difference is actually more obvious on a large projected image than on a small TV screen.

I currently have a 720p projector and the difference between DVD and Blu-ray is like night and day on my 11-foot screen.

Keep in mind that Blu-ray players may get cheaper closer to Christmas.

Yes it will. But that means you have to buy blu ray movies to go along with it. Your projector would be using its HD capabilities with blu ray. Blu Ray movies have a max resolution of 1080p while dvd (upconverted or not) still only has 480. Your projector would be displaying BR movies in its max resolution of 720p. To me, the difference between upscaled movies and blu ray is like night and day.
