this was 1 week ago ...and ever since i have been feeling really sad , depressed , and mostly afraid..
i am not a bad person ..i just turned 18 and i look foward to getting a good education and taking care of my parents....the reason why i feel so afraid and sad is because i love horror movies, videogames and many more things that a normal teen or adult likes ..BUT at the same time i feel bad because i feel that i need to be praying 24/7 and feel that i cant have a normal life....That i cant watch tv or listen to music or watch my horror movies or play NOTHING ...i have been baptised and plan to start attending church ..but.. I am not happy because i feel i need to question everything instead of just enjoying it..i woud like for someone who has been in my position to let me know how to handle this situation..because i feel i cant enjoy the things i have ..even if they just are material things....i come from a poor family so i get really happy when i get something i wanted but i still feel confused and afraid....

raul, what you enjoyed in the past (as you described) is ok.

i know you feel like you have to pray all the time. but, God isn't going anywhere. live your life. be happy.

don't stress yourself out. you're doing just fine.

...emotionally you're the same person. Things you used to enjoy are things you are still accustomed to. Being a Christian does not make you perfect, but the things that you know are displeasing to God will start to offend you.

It is said by people who witness to others and bring them to christ: First, we catch the fish.... THEN we clean them.

Simply because you have chosen Christ does not mean you're going to be perfect or really feel much different... but keep praying.

When I was growing up I was raised in a home where if what you were doing didn't directly involve God, you were wrong. I had to listen to Christian music, watch Christian movies and tv shows, read Christian books, etc. I am now an atheist.
I am NOT telling you to turn your back on Christianity, but now that I am older, I think it would have helped if someone had told me that I didn't have to revolve EVERYTHING around God as long as I included him in everything. I don't know kid, you'll find something that works for you, just don't make yourself miserable in the name of anything.

stop feeling confused and afraid. the way you do this is to educate yourself. stop running on emotion. what does it matter if you like horror movies? what does your faith say about it? do you know? knowing the truth will help you tremendously.

Been there, done that.

I let the need to question everything take over. I let that need guide me into deep research and interviews with my priest. It led me to read and study the bible, cover to cover. It led to knowledge and responsibility, and ultimately to atheism.
